Ingredients
- Rice flour - 2 cups
- Water- 2 cups
- Pinch of salt
- Ghee
- Freshly grated coconut- 1 cup
- Jaggery powder - 3/4 cup
- Crushed almonds and cashews - 1/2 cup
- Toasted sesame seeds- 2 spoons
Method
- Pour 2 cups of water to pan, add a pinch of salt and bring it to boil
- Switch off the flame, add rice flour and give it a quick mix
- Cover it with lid and keep aside. Let the mixture cook in residual heat.
- Meanwhile, add a spoon of ghee to another pan and fry crushed nuts in a medium flame
- Add grated coconut, sesame seeds and jaggery to that
- Jaggery will start melting, cook it until the moisture evaporate.
- Keep aside the stuffing mixture to cool
- Coming back to rice flour mixture, take out the lumpy dough before it gets completely cool down.
- Apply a little ghee and kneed it well so that you can make crack-free balls
- Now, dip your thumb in ghee and make a dent in the centre and spread using your forefingers.
- Put in a spoon full of stuffing's and shape it as modak. You can use moulds also!
- Steam it for 15 minutes on high flame. Delicious modaks are ready to offer to lord Ganesha
