Tondekai/tindora/ivy gourd is a tropical vine that is used for many medicinal purposes. This creeper plant can be easily grown in your home garden or backyards. We all know that tindora/tondekai is used in many cuisines. But, do you all know the leaves of tindora/ivy gourd is also exceptionally useful? yes! tonde soppu/tindora leaves/ivy gourd leaves are used in Ayurveda to cure many illnesses such as to heal wounds, to cure jaundice, diabetes, menstrual pain, and veginal pain and many more. Include this medicinal vine in your diet with this delicious tambuli!

Ingredients

  • Tonde soppu/tindora leaves/ivy gourd leaves - 5 to 6
  • Black pepper - 6 to7
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Freshly grated coconut - 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • Buttermilk - 2 cups / whisked curd - 1 cup
  • Water for grinding
  • salt

Method

  1. Wash freshly plucked tonde soppu/ivy gourd leaves
  2. Roast black pepper, cumin seeds, and tonde soppu/ivy gourd leaves in ghee
  3. Grind grated coconut and roasted spices and leaves together in a mixer grinder by adding water
  4. Strain the grounded mixture and add buttermilk/whisked curd to the strained juice
  5. Add salt as per taste and mix well. 1/2 a spoon of jaggery can also be added (optional) to enhance the taste.
  6. Healthy tonde soppu tambuli is ready to serve with steamed rice
