Main Ingredients
- Coriander seeds - 1 cup
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 cup
- Fennel seeds - 1/2 cup
- Whole cardamom (with peel) - 7 to 8
- Black pepper - 2 tbsp
- Dried ginger - 2 inch
- Dried turmeric root - 1 inch
Other Ingredients ( to be added in very small quantity)
Hippili, Jyeshta Madhu, Ashwagandha, Neggina mullu, and Vayu Vidanga. But, these ingredients are optional.
Method
- Dry roast every ingredient separately.
- Grind all the roasted ingredients together in the mixer grinder
- Mix the powder well. Kashaya powder is ready for use!
- Store it in an airtight container. The powder can be used for months.
How to prepare kashaya?
Make kashaya decoction by boiling a cup of water mixed with a spoon of kashaya powder and sugar (optional). Rock sugar is used traditionally in kashaya as it can relieve cough and sore throat. add a little milk to the kashaya decoction and bring it to boil. Strain and serve kashaya when it's hot!
