Southekai Sihi Dose #Cucumber Recipes


Southekai sihi dose or cucumber sweet dosa is a healthy, delicious and power-packed breakfast recipe. As we all know cucumber is rich with a variety of vitamins and minerals. Cucumber water is rich in potassium which helps to keep your body well hydrated. Jaggery in dosa is loaded with antioxidants and minerals which helps to cleanse the body. Ghee and coconut are two more essential ingredients that have plenty of health benefits. Southekai sihi dose can be served just with ghee or even with coconut chutney. This dosa with ghee tastes heavenly when you eat it straight out of the tawa. Try this amazing nutrition-rich coastal breakfast recipe. Kids will just love it!

Ingredients

  • Dosa rice - 1 cup
  • Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
  • Beaten rice (Avalakki) - 1/4 cup
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tbsp
  • Jaggery - 3/4 to 1 cup grated
  • Cucumber - peeled, deseeded and cut into pieces 
  • Salt as per taste
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Ghee 

Method

  1. Wash thoroughly and soak dosa rice, fenugreek seeds and beaten rice for 4-5 hours. 
  2. Peel the skin and remove seeds from the cucumber. Any cucumber can be used - green or yellow. cut them into pieces.
  3. Remove water from soaked rice. Grind soaked rice, beaten rice, fenugreek seeds, cucumber, grated coconut, and jaggery together in a mixer grinder. add water only if required to bring to a dosa batter consistency. (jaggery and coconut water is good enough to get the consistency)
  4. Add salt and cardamom powder to the dosa batter and mix well. Leave it overnight for fermentation. 
  5. Greece the hot tawa/skillet with ghee. Take a ladleful of batter and spread it on tawa (don't spread it too thin). Put some ghee on dosa, cover it and let it cook. Turn it on to the other side and cook for a while.
  6. Spongy and delicious Southekai sihi dosa is ready! Serve it with ghee.
